TONT at the Festival of Learning - Brookside

Looking forward, very much, to attending the Taster Day at Brookside Central the revamped community centre. This is just one of the  Community Learning Team’s celebration of Festival of Learning this month.

Some of the photos we have to show are right in this part of Brookside – can’t wait to see people think.

Dementia Friendly Day at Blists Hill Victorian Town

It was a real pleasure to join forces with a library colleague today, along with other agencies supporting Dementia Awareness Week 17-23 May. It was a great opportunity for carers and people living with dementia to get out for the day and enjoy the surroundings of one of the fantastic Ironbridge Gorge Museum sites. There were information stands from a variety of groups, a chance to stop a while; chat and meet people.

Lots of interest in all the photos and film… with many a reminiscence shared.

Sambrook Centre, Stirchley

We were at the Sambrook Centre today and enjoyed the company of library visitors, members of the two art groups and some of the Wrekin Walkabout Walkers. Thanks for your memories – we really enjoyed discovering things that were happening on the area.

New Website

We’re excited to be launching the new website for the project. It provides a flavour some of the photographs you can see on the digital table; different elements that we’ve been working on as part of the project and sessions coming up. Enjoy!

New Additions Sessions

Great to see people today and share the developments that we’ve made on the digital table over the last few months. There’s a new set of photos added to each of the geographic areas; some ‘Then and Then “ photos courtesy of one of our fabulous community history volunteers who took out her camera and got to the exact place where some of the TDC pictures were taken. We absolutely love the magistrates’ court photo – it works so well. There are a few video clips to watch including the Rev Awdry of Thomas the Tank Engine fame – opening the Steam railway in the Park; the Beehive being hoisted into position on the Town Centre and some tree planting by youngsters… location unknown.

Pass on the postcards...
And we’re very excited to launch our set of 8 postcards that anyone dropping into these memory sessions can take away and share with family and friends to inspire more memory making.
