A great talk!

 

What a fabulous talk David gave to illustrate the work that he was involved with during his time with the TDC. We were so pleased to see a lovely crowd of 45 people listen to his memories and had some great questions to round off with too. Thanks for coming along everyone.

Telford on film premiere

We’re looking forward to premiering the new films that we’ve received back from MACE. They've done a fantastic job for us of digitising individual clips and creating two compilations which we think people will enjoy seeing. Lights... cameras... roll...!!

Sutton Hill Resident Group

 

Thanks to Nadeem at Sutton Hill Community Centre for inviting me to the Residents Group last night. I was able to tell everyone about the project, and show some of the photos. We’re hoping that we can go back to Shropshire Archives in 2016 and look for photos of Sutton Hill in the making. Wonderful as site preparations started in March 1966 – the Archbishop of Canterbury dedicated a stone at Sutton Hill Pastoral Centre in July of that year and first houses were occupied in March 1967.  

Interviewing skills

We’ve been practicing our interviewing skills with a couple of ex TDC employees who have very generously given up time to speak to us about the landscaping of the town and planning in general. We found out loads so are very grateful indeed!

Now we need to follow through by transcribing or writing up an overview of the interviews and then editing them.

More Oral History training

We were delighted to welcome Julia Letts back to do a second training session with us. Once again we had a very productive day learning and practising recording.
Memories are very powerful. To introduce ourselves we had to select an item from the tray - something which brought a memory/ies back to us and then we had to describe this to our partner who then used the information to introduce us. The smell of Vick was very powerful and had many of us reminiscing about occasions when it was a "life-saver". Fascinating stuff!
