Parkwood 'Pals'
We were a select group at the Parkwood - another fabulous Wrekin Housing Trust retirement
home – but what a great time we had! You know the saying “quality” not quantity
– so very true I find! Folks – you were fab! Not everyone was around for the photo. Some great memories of the Woodside area again.

Green Spaces
Green
Spaces Memory session at Southwater.
The library has been buzzing today as it’s half term, the
sun’s out and people are enjoying the surroundings both inside and outside of
the library. We have been joined by various groups on the Telford Green Spaces Partnership network including: Friends of the Town Park, Friends of Rough Park,
Woodside, Bartlett Gardens - Madley Community Orchard, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, South Telford
Rights of Way Partnership, Sutton Hill Village Green, to
reminisce out these green places.

George Chetwood Court
Our
first visit out to a Wrekin Housing Trust group at George Chetwood Court in Dawley.
What a fabulous morning we had showing
the slideshow and hearing people’s memories inspired by the photos we showed. Thanks everyone.. you're stars!
…………………
I worked in a shop selling fruit and veg.
I lived at Sutton Maddock and I cycled to work it took me about ¾ of an hour. I
left school on a Friday and started work there on the Monday aged 14 and left
when I got married aged 23. During the war the Americans drove down the High
Sreet in their jeeps – it was the main road then.
………………
‘I worked there as senior Assistant
Supervisor and then Assistant Manager. Caerphilly store was the first in this
country and then Telford was opened. We used to send girls out to check the
prices of items in other shops like Sainsburys.’
………………
‘The bus service was very good. From
Dawley you could get a bus anywhere. I used to go from Dawley to Wellington for
the market.’

Thanks to our friends who visited today from Oakengates – we know you
enjoyed looking at the photos on the table and discovering all the things that Southwater Library has
to offer.
We loved your memories: ‘Loved going on the pedaloes with my grandson. There were seats for two people and he would never let me peddle.’
